In keeping up with the requirements of comprehensively documenting the Urban Health Initiative (UHI) – being implemented across eleven cities of Uttar Pradesh from 2009-10 onwards – a team of documenters from New Concept covered 8 cities in the month of April and May.
UNICEF has been supporting various initiatives of the Department of Labour, Government of Uttar Pradesh, for prevention and elimination of child labour in the state. Collaborating with the Department of Labour, UNICEF has designed a communication strategy with the overall goal of promoting change in knowledge, attitudes and practices and influencing social norms around child labour.
The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) of the Government of India launched targeted project interventions in ten states - Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and West Bengal across the country for malaria and kala-azar control with support from the World Bank.
Government of Bihar through its key departments is pursuing a wide range of capacity building initiatives supported by the World Bank under a Technical assistance Program. One such key department is the Rural Development Department (RDD) that is undertaking several reform initiatives aimed at creating systems and processes that ensure citizens at the centre of its operations.
UNICEF in partnership with State Government and district administration, Koraput, has been intervening in the district with an integrated package of child survival activities. Behaviour change communication is an innovative strategy being used to influence and change key behaviours like exclusive breastfeeding, hand washing with soap, girl’s education and safe behaviours to prevent HIV/AIDS.
