Inauguration of the Centre of Excellence for Communication

The State Institute for Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW) in Bhubaneswar was all spruced up and wore a festive look on the 17th of December 2011. The occasion was the launching of the Centre of Excellence for Communication, (CoE), a wing within the SIHFW set up to strengthen the nodal BCC institute of the state. 

The Minister for Health Shri Prasanna Acharya presided over the function, which was also graced by Health Secretary Ms Anu Garg, Mission Director, NRHM, Dr Promod Meherda, UNICEF Orissa Chief Ms Shairose Mawji and DFID Orissa Head Ms Supriya Pattanayak.

Dr Bijayeeni Mohapatra, Director SIHFW welcomed the guests and delivered the inaugural address. All the other dignitaries also spoke of the need for the CoE and the role it would play in elevating the health status of the people of the State. 

The CoE Website and Guidelines, the Formative Research Report and BCC Strategy for Tribal Populations in Orissa, and the BEE Training Report were released on the occasion. Three of the four releases namely the Website, the Formative Research Report and BCC Strategy, and the BEE Training Report were developed by the New Concept team.
