According to statistics, women are particularly four times more vulnerable to STDs and HIV because of their anatomy.
Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust (HLFPPT) aims to provide care for people from all walks of life with the help of projects that empower communities and thus, contribute to the achievement of national health and population development goals.
One such initiative by HLFPPT was the introduction of the female condom. According to statistics, women are particularly four times more vulnerable to the sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and HIV because of their anatomy. HLFPPT introduced a new product, the female condom, to meet this challenge that could lead to a significant reduction in unprotected sex acts and a decrease in the HIV infections in India.
This flipbook is to help trainers and peer educators to introduce the female condom to the participants. The clear illustrations and tips at every stage in the flipbook make it simpler for the trainer to interact with the participants while talking about the female condom. The module aims to highlight the condom as an empowering tool, as presented by the trainer. It is not only informative and demonstrative, but also teaches the participant to develop skills to negotiate condom use with her partner. There is also a list of possible questions that the participants might ask, to make it easier for the trainer.
