The State Institute for Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW) in Bhubaneswar was all spruced up and wore a festive look on the 17th of December 2011. The occasion was the launching of the Centre of Excellence for Communication, (CoE), a wing within the SIHFW set up to strengthen the nodal BCC institute of the state.

A health communication strategy for RNTCP

The Danish assistance to the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme in India, DANTB, was established in 1997. In addition to the financial and technical support to establishing the necessary infrastructure for RNTCP, the project made Orissa special compared to other states of India by the development of two specific components dedicated to work with TB-related information, education and communication (IEC) and health systems research (HSR) by DANTB.

To facilitate effective implementation of the strong and well-defined communication strategy that has been woven into the structure and design of the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP). Lintas India hired New Concept to conduct a series of ACSM capacity building workshops in six selected states – Punjab, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
