This training guide provides general information on how to adapt the surveillance curriculum and present an HIV/AIDS/STI surveillance course. The main objective of this document is to build capacity of the staff who are engaged in surveillance activities. 

The modules and courses in this document use case studies, exercises, discussions and presentations to focus on developing protocols, processes and action plans for surveillance activities. It also presents scheduling suggestions, training and presentation tips, and ideas to plan training events. This guide aims to be useful for training directors and facilitators who organise training activities for surveillance of AIDS, HIV, STI and risk behaviours.
